About Simmons College

Simmons College is a private women's undergraduate college and co-educational graduate school in Boston, Massachusetts state's capital and largest city, as well as one of US's oldest cities and the largest city in New England, housing over 645 000 inhabitants, within its limits, according to the 2009 census estimate, fact which also makes it the 20th largest city in the country.

Simmons College was established in 1899, and its original mission was to only educate women, which has not changed much, today. Although, some programs offered at Simmons are co-ed, such as the graduate programs in health sciences, education, liberal arts, communications management, social work, and library and information science, the MBA program is designed specifically for women.

Athletics

Simmons' athletic teams are known as the Sharks and they compete in NCAA Division III, in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference, the North Atlantic Conference and the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference, with 9 teams.
